SOLID BODY BUTTER RECIPE
As you well know, the skin is the largest organ of our wonderful body, so we must take care of it as it deserves. In addition, depending on the time of the year or our age, we will have to choose some ingredients or others.
In the supermarket we can find inexpensive body lotions with an endless INCI.
WHAT IS INCI?
The INCI is the list of ingredients contained in the product. They are listed from higher to lower quantity, so that we will know if the ingredients we are interested in are in a reasonable quantity, or only contain a small amount.
Conventional products often contain some harmful ingredients that do not benefit us in any way and only make a product last longer, smell “better” or look more attractive. In another post I will talk about some natural preservatives and the importance of not consuming products with artificial flavors.
Let’s get to it! We start with the RECIPE for our SOLID BODY BUTTER.
INGREDIENTS:
– 125ml coconut oil
– 65g of Cocoa Butter
– 30g Beeswax * 30g Beeswax * 30g Beeswax
– 25 drops of essential oil
*We can substitute beeswax with high melting point soy wax. Thus we have a vegan alternative. It is important that it has a high melting point because otherwise the butter will melt if it is too hot.
In the recipes that I will be uploading on the BLOG you will see that I will always try to use basic ingredients, easy to find and if possible of proximity.
PREPARATION
Melt the oils and wax in a bain-marie. When it is completely dissolved, add the essential oils. In my case I have made some molds with lavender essential oil and others with mandarin essential oil. You can decorate with flower petals as you like.
I always add a couple of drops of vitamin E which is a very good natural antioxidant and helps the oils not to go rancid.
Then we pour it into the molds we have chosen and let it stand until it solidifies. The process can be accelerated by placing the molds in the refrigerator for an hour.
Finally, when the butter is solid, it can be removed from the mold and stored in an aluminum can. Perfect to carry in your bag or keep in any drawer.
I hope you liked today’s post and enjoy the RECIPE.
I want comments and photos of your solid butters!
